IPTV providers: how to choose the right one

Published 2 September 2026 Last updated: 2026-10-08

('Choosing an IPTV provider looks simple and rarely is: every page says the same things, the prices look alike and the reviews describe different experiences. This guide does not publish a ranking — a service changes every six months, and a ranking written today would be false tomorrow. It does something more durable: the questions to ask and the signals to watch, so you decide with the means to do it.', [('The right question is not «how many channels»', '

The channel count is the most-used sales argument in the sector and it says almost nothing. A provider can claim twenty thousand channels and have a hundred legitimate ones; another can declare three thousand and hold every licence. The count is a sales argument, not data: no service shows you the full list before you pay, so you cannot verify it either.

\n
Three questions worth more than a thousand reviews
  1. What is the company name and VAT number?
  2. On what legal basis does it transmit the content?
  3. Where are the Terms and the Privacy Policy?

The third is the one almost nobody checks, and it is the most useful: a site with readable Terms and Conditions and a Privacy Policy naming the data controller is already telling you something.

'), ('Price: what it should cost, and what «everything» should cost', '

A service with thousands of channels necessarily costs more than a free-to-air playlist, because transmission rights have to be paid and they are the biggest line on the invoice. In Europe, roughly: a few euros a month for a basic service, higher figures for very large catalogues or sports channels.

\n

The practical test is simple: do the division. If the advertised price does not divide by the number of channels you actually want, or it promises 50,000 channels for a few euros, the saving is the channel somebody is not paying for. A very low price is not a bargain, it is a clue.

'), ('The trial: better one day than a year', '

The hardest thing to check before buying is not the catalogue, it is your connection: in the evening, when the channel you want is on and everybody is watching something. A serious provider lets you try for a token amount for exactly this reason. We offer 24 hours at €1 — not to earn money on one euro, but so you can see in a day whether the quality holds on your television, at your hour, on your line.

\n

A full yearly subscription paid upfront is a bet on a service you have not seen yet.

'), ('Support: the cheapest test there is', '

Write before you pay. If they answer, you have a point of contact and an idea of how quickly they reply. If they only reply after you buy, the problem has already started: it means support exists to keep you, not to help you.

\n

On TV8Live we answer on WhatsApp and by email, in English, Italian, French and Spanish. It is a commitment we made public because it is also a way of not telling you different things before and after payment.

'), ('Five signals worth stopping for', "
    \n
  • [[ICON_CHECK]]No «free» list to install. If you are asked to download third-party playlists, that is not your subscription.
  • \n
  • [[ICON_CHECK]]A price that changes weekly. A serious service has a price list.
  • \n
  • [[ICON_CHECK]]Crypto or anonymous bank transfer only. You have no way to dispute, and no chance of a refund.
  • \n
  • [[ICON_CHECK]]No Terms page. No contract means no obligation on either side.
  • \n
  • [[ICON_CHECK]]Sports and pay-TV channels promised at basic-service prices. Sports rights cost more than everything else put together.
  • \n
\n

The last two are also the signals to read in IPTV and the law: rights, licences and GDPR, which covers the same ground from the legal side.

"), ('Refunds: what a serious provider owes you', '

A serious provider makes it easy to get your money back if the service does not work. We offer a full refund within 72 hours of purchase, with no reason required, to the same payment method.

\n

“No refund” in small print, or missing altogether, is the most important signal of all: a service that refuses to return your money when it fails does not deserve your trust.

Illustration of the criteria for choosing an IPTV provider with information

How do I tell whether an IPTV provider is legitimate?

Three signals, in this order. First: there is a company name and a VAT number, and the Terms are readable. Second: there is a short trial at a token price instead of an annual subscription paid upfront. Third: support answers even before you pay. If you get all three answers, the provider is legitimate.

How much should IPTV cost in Italy?

A service with thousands of channels necessarily costs more than a free-to-air playlist, because transmission rights have to be paid for. In Europe: a few euros a month for a basic service, higher figures for very large catalogues or sports channels. If you find €5 a month with 50,000 channels, you have not found a bargain — you have found channels resold without a licence.

Are free channels reliable?

No, and the reason is concrete: with no subscription there is no income covering transmission rights, so quality drops and channels disappear. A free list may work this week and not next.

Can I switch provider if I am not satisfied?

Yes, but switching means starting again: new configuration, new details, new favourites. That is why a short trial is worth more than any review: it is the only way to check that the quality holds on your connection, in the evening.

Is auto-renewal a bad sign?

Not in itself, but it has to be stated clearly. The problem is when a trial looks like a one-off payment and then rolls on automatically: before you confirm, find the “renewal” or “cancel” wording. If it appears nowhere on the page, ask. A vague answer is a no.
